This Freeman 23 Hard Top had an untimely meeting with a Narrowboat which destroyed the hard top and screen so we made this all-in-one canopy with integral screen. Obviously not an original Freeman feature but hopefully in keeping with its style. Thoughts and comments would be much appreciated😀 Design: David Brindley

Fabric - Weathermax 80 Black Here are a few pictures of a custom-fitted tonneau cover for this Dejon 14 we squeezed in today! The customer dropped the boat off at our workshop at around 10.30am and chose to have Weathermax 80 Pacific Blue fabric to match the boat's paintwork. The cover was then patterned, fabricated, fitted and ready for collection at 3.30pm. Start date - 1st April 2014 This project is a full enclosure for the stern of this cruiser style Narrowboat. The Top of the canopy wiil be in 4 sections supported by 3 frames. The sides will zip into the top and be full height with zip-up door panels and the stern rail will be enclosed with a solid dodger. In this photo we are fixing the deck brackets on top of the cab for the front frame support. With the frame strapped securely in place and the first 2 panels for the canopy top fixed with double-sided tape we can see the structure starting to take shape. The pattern is complete and ready to be taken back to the workshop where each panel will be worked and finalised. These finished patterns are then used to mark out the actual canopy fabric ready for cutting and sewing. The fabric of choice for this job is Weathermax Tweed Green, a high performance lightweight marine fabric with superb strength and breathability. Start date - 2nd April 2013 Preparing the pattern material for the side panels for this all-over boat cover. This is a large project and will use approximately 50 metres of Weathermax 80 material. Marking the detail for the bow wrap-around. With the full side in place the markings can be made around the gunwales and around the lower edge where a sleeve will be added to accommodate a 2" polyester webbing tensioning strap. |
