We’re often asked if we can make a brand-new canopy by simply copying an old one. The honest answer is no, and there’s a very good reason for that.

Over time, marine fabrics are exposed to sun, rain, wind, and temperature changes. This constant weathering causes the material to shrink in some areas and stretch in others . Even a few millimetres of distortion can make a big difference to the way a canopy fits. If we used an old cover as a pattern, the result would almost certainly be too tight, too loose, or misaligned, and that’s not the standard we work to.

Why We Don’t Work From Old Covers

• Fabric Distortion – Ageing fabric no longer matches the original dimensions.
• Frame Changes – Boat frames can subtly shift or settle over time, so the old canopy may not reflect the boat’s current shape.
